I am really enjoying my time at SU.

The admission process was pretty straight forward. One thing I like about the iSchool at SU is that students are admitted based on their complete profile. What that means is that you aren't judged only on your academics and test scores. The statement of purpose (SOP) along with recommendation letters, leadership & extra-curricular activities, work experience all play a major role in helping you get admitted to this program. The most important thing would be to write a SOP clearly describes your career goals, your interest in the Telecom program and why you would like to pursue it at the iSchool.

While there are scholarship/funding opportunities available, you really need to prove yourself to be a deserving candidate. While I wasn't awarded an scholarship at the time of admission, I received one at the end of my first semester. I made it a point to be actively involved in different organizations in the iSchool and it surely helped me.

I love the courses here. We have a good balance between technical, management and policy courses. The faculty members are great are renowned in their topics they teach. I would encourage you to go browse the faculty profiles on the iSchool website.

Syracuse is a great city with tons of things to do around. There are lots of state parks around which are great for outdoor activities like hiking, trekking rafting etc. There are also tons of opportunities for winter sports. I stay off-campus. There is really great housing options close to campus and the cost of living is really low which is awesome. The on-campus housing facilities, I have heard are really good too. There are tons of food courts spread all over campus and five dining halls which are very conveniently located. The campus is also very well connected by a very reliable bus service.
