Our university might not be the best one in Australia, but we have the nicest teachers, staff and students. They are especially frendly to new students, helping them get familiar with the campus and all the resources in the campus. We also have senior students who can give you advice on your study, they tell you how they feel with study 5 subjects in a semester, how crazy the conception days is...emm, which social club will give you a lot of fun...... The important thing I wouls say is our teaching staff take the students very serious, we have very high standard marking criteria, and this is the reason why people say our uni has the highest fail rate, it doesn't mean our uni is not good, but the students who passed has a higher standard, believe or not. If u want some challenges and good friends, come to our uni!
Well as an international studend, I did the foundation in a college for 1 year, and my agent sent the result to Macquarie and get accepted. I am bad in paper works, so find an agent is the best choice for me.
Most of the scholarships for my degree are only offered to local students, so well, there is no chance for us. Usually, there are more scholarships available for the post graduate students.
Actuarial studies is hard, you really need to spent a lot of time on it. What I am trying to say is, it is not a hard subject if you seperate it by parts, the difficulty is it combines a lot of things from different areas. You need to lots of things. Can't really count how many hours I spent on it every week, but more than 45 hrs I promise. Lectures are good but sometimes are quite boring, the tutors are much funny, because they are obviousely younger, about a few years older than us. They are so patient and helpful.
Not that good, but good enough. They have everything we need for study, presentation practise room, scanner, the bar, the lake...... Most of my friends are local students, sometimes I can't get what they are talking, but now I totally ger used to that. We hang out a lot in holidays, the pancakes, paintballs, beach, putt putt golf ...... they are nice people. I live with my family so doesn't have much to say about living by my own.
