My advice to prospective students: Be proactive and enjoy your university life here. Join your hostel CCAs as you will be interacting with your hostel mates more. You will have more support from your friends and be able to find the best people for help.

ratingSelection process and gaining admission

It is difficult to enter due to English proficiency test. Try to live in Singapore or an English speaking country for a while to help with the written test and interview. Entry is based on grades and interview. As for help, there is a lot of help going on for international students partly because there are so many international students. Make sure you receive assistance from seniors for optimum performance. Send in your application early and make sure you meet the criteria first. Then prepare well for any interview. The embassy was fast and efficient with my student visa, not a problem at all.

ratingFunding and scholarships

Faculty scholarships, school scholarships, government scholarships are all available but for international students these come with bonds tied to the local companies or the government sector. They can be found on the university portal and are dependent on you to find them as there are many applicants too.

ratingYour study experience

I am studying in HSS Arts, it is not hectic. 20 hours study a week is enough if you pay attention to details and attend lectures and tutorials. Take down as many notes as you can to help your revision. The lecturers are witty and intelligent. They are humble and not dismissive of opinions. And yes they provide great help. Of course that makes my course value for money.

ratingYour life experience

Plenty of facilities, you name it you got it. Swimming pool, gym, computer centers, experiment labs and so on. I live in a hostel near the university so it is very convenient for me. Just take the university bus. Beware that there are a lot of steps and slopes at university. This is a great leg exercise when you are in a good mood and lots of sweating when you are in a bad mood or late for lessons. For part time work, there is a career centre which helps pair students to their job fits and helps them find contacts for work. Very helpful.

ratingJob prospects

Job prospects are very good and very easy. More and more companies want NTU HSS graduates for their soft skills to work in cross functional work teams. The student union is very active, appearing a few times each school term. After I graduate I will further my studies for a Masters here.
