My university experience has been great due to the many activities and events I can take part in despite the stress when exams are nearing. Take part in as many freshmen camps as possible as they will be your vital support when you are stressed. And it is always good to know more people to form groups more easily when doing projects.
It is very difficult to get a place at NTU electrical and electronic engineering as it is one of the most sought after degrees in NTU. Once you have contacted the local office, they will send you a package detailing how to go about applying to matriculate into NTU. It will also include guidelines on how to adapt to Singapore and customs issues.
There are many scholarship opportunities available. If you are really good at your academic studies and your CCA record is good, apply for the Nanyang scholarship as there is no bond and it is for the entire term of your studies. For applicants, make sure your grades are good and you have joined some club and are holding a leadership position. Next, improve your interview skills as the interview counts for a lot.
The course schedule is very hectic, with lessons quite packed. I study about 10 hours a day so that makes almost 60 hours a week. Yes it is very stressful but there is the feeling of achievement and pride when you do well. Some lecturers are good, but some can't explain complicated complex concepts. Likewise some tutors offer more help than others. However, my course is worth the money I spent on the degree.
The facilities are quite old but considered sufficient for studying and they are improving. There were a lot of renovations for the Youth Olympic Games so the facilities are now world class and brand new. I love the hostel culture and sports recreational centre. However, I have yet to enjoy the facilities that were improved as university just started. The people and the culture are what make my university experience a great one. There is hardly any spare time, much less to find part time work but there is a Career Centre to help students to find jobs while studying and after graduating.
Yes, my job prospects will definitely increase as a result of my studies. A degree from NTU Engineering is a platform for a higher income. However, it is not to a great extent as it is provided that you pursue that area of study as a career. I would be interested to join the alumni association. NTU alumni is quite well known and studying together for so long builds strong bonds.
