My first visit to Oregon was when my friend invited me over. I had only five days at that time. He picked me up at the airport and we went all over Oregon in five days. I was amazed by this county; amazed by its proximity to both ocean and mountains. I am now still amazed by Corvallis. It is really nice; everything is close to us in the university space. When you leave our own country, you pulled out your social environment, and learn different culture. I realized the even European and American are quite different (I mean even we are in the West). We have different values and emphasize different ideas. It is really interesting to experience new ways of the life, the way other people live. I learned how to communicate with people by asking a lot of stuff. I also learned a lot about myself such as what is important for me and what I want to do in the future. Be open-minded to everything and get involved to every opportunity. Take classes in different major and you will have different perspectives. It's a wonderful thing and one time life experience. Should be appreciated!
OSU definitely gave me a chance to look the future. Here, you have more chances to study different field by taking classes. It will have an impact on my future. For example, I took business psychology and learned organization behavior; how people interact with each other. That is what I wouldn't have studied in Germany. Between different culture groups, there was something that I wasn't 100 % sure about. I learned how people interact with each other in the company in the US. It is important and will have impact on my future. The access to information in the Valley Library is nice. When we do graduate research, we are able to access to major papers and have chance to go conferences. Being more involved with international students (for example from South America, Arab, and Asia), I have chance to think outside the box.
OSU is located between ocean and mountains. Not just having research in the lab but also having chances to enjoy Oregon's outdoor life is really nice. We are close to professors. The door is open! They are there when you need and spend a lot of time in office hour. I personally appreciate that. It is quite wonderful to work together with people of different cultures who have different ways of study, learning, and educational systems. It is a perfect training for the future.
Experience taking a class with students from all around the world is really helpful. In one class, I'm the only European and others are from Iran, India, Mexico, China, and Japan. I learned how they study in depth and more detail, which is different from me. It is quite wonderful to work together with people of different cultures who have different ways of study, learning, and educational systems. It is a perfect training for the future. In the future when I work in the international office, this experience in OSU will be greatly appreciated.
