I would say to come here if your coursework is similar to what you need inspite of the recent attacks that you have seen, Perth is really safe place.
I gave IELTs exam as a part of admission process. I prepared at home using the Kaplan IELTS books. I did not attend any coaching classes for it. For Australian admissions I used Kaiser counseling which is a centralised admission process where everything is done through them. I needed a VISA but it was not an interview process but requiring documentation and we could get the VISA stamped. I booked Arab emirates as the airlines and later went by Australian airways for the domestic routes. The airlines was really good with good food served to us. I got a student concession and I landed at Perth Airport. There was no meet and greet service.
I have got 25 percent scholarship as a part of tuition and pay the remaining amount. We generally get scholarships and less of research based assistantships.
I am really happy since this course work is hardly offered in other universities. My professors are really helpful and innovative in teaching methods.
I live offcampus of the university. My college is really good with good campus area. It is really easy to get part time jobs as we are allowed to work offcampus as well so everybody manages to find something or the other. There is an international society named Indian association which is active.
My university has a placement office but since I have not tried for jobs I am not sure how it works. There is alumni for Indian students and they are helpful but I dont have first hand experience but I have heard about my friends saying good things about them.
