Hi! I completed my PhD at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Being a dental student I wanted an opportunity to pursue research in my field. I can tell you, the university has got state of the art facilities and a very good work environment and highly qualified, experienced and resourceful faculty. The university is ranked third among all the public universities for research. I remember the Visa Officer joking and asking me why a dentist has to go abroad to do research when clinical based training offered in India would suffice (he even showed me his tooth on which he had got a root canal treatment done the previous day !!). I just smiled and said that the awareness for research was growing in India?Got to keep your head ! After that the interview proceeded smoothly and I got my visa in less than a minute. Studying abroad was a great experience which I am sure everyone would cherish. All the best!
