UMass Amherst offers a vast array of educational opportunities for full and part-time students. After my Bachelors degree I moved on to do my PhD in Self-Assembly at the university. I would advise all Indian students to consider carefully the course they apply to, it must fit into your background of research and interestdo read up a lot about the university and the different programs before applying. All the best!
My stint as a summer trainee at Atul India for a period of 1.5 months after my graduation must have helped me in getting the visa. Dont get flustered if the VO is rude, I remember during my interview, the VO kept insisting that my bank pass book was faked! Though I was terribly shocked I maintained my cool and stood my ground and finally the VO granted me the visa.
We had award-winning faculty that included Nobel Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners they really changed my perspective of looking at things. They were not only engaged in teaching and research but also helped govern the University. It was great to study at an inst like UMass. Their library resources were excellent. I would recommend the University to any Indian student coming to the US!!
The campus provides a rich cultural environment in a rural setting close to major urban centers. One can enjoy nature in the beautiful environs of the uni. A good way to relax after some hard work.
Career Services at UMass helps students and alumni identify and pursue satisfying careers through a variety of programs and services. There is a lot of scope to do further research on DNA- based computers or hollow capsules where self-assembly is applicable.
