Second year Accounting at Macquarie can be quite challenging, but also very rewarding if you work hard at it. An important piece of advice that I found useful was to keep up with the weekly workload and dont fall behind as it is very difficult and stressful to get back up to speed.
The Application process is of moderate difficulty at macquarie. I was accepted on the basis of my UAI from the Higher School Certificate in NSW but also my previous university experiance and qualitications gained at the University of New South Wales.
I have not been able to secure any scholorships as im from the city of sydney, some people I know have been able to get scholarships because they were originally from rural NSW.
The best bits of my course is its variety and practicality. As I study law with accounting when I get tired and frustrated with writing essays or long hundreds of pages I can then swith to the numbers for a refreshing change and vice versa. Also as Accounting and law a both fairly practical subjects this really makes the content more interesting.
The facultie in my degree are genertally quite helpful, although the law faculty is cutting back teaching times due to funding cuts which can be quite frustrating. I have joined a few Sudent groups and am on the Executive of the Economics, Commerce & Finance Society (ECFS) which represents all MQ FBE students.
I definately think my job prosects are increased as a result of my studies. and I feel fairly confident that I'll be able to secure a challenging and rewarding position after I graduate
