There is a very big difference between the education in China and in the UK, for example here you have to have more self motivation. There are no parents to push you, you have to be more independent and learn to think for yourself more.

I was actually rejected the first time I applied because I didn't put a study plan on my application. I think study plans are very important when you are applying for your visa.

I did a five week EAP course before the degree which was really useful because it was academic English.

I did a work placement as a Marine Marketing Analyst at Cummins Inc. in Daventry, Northamptonshire. My salary was £12,350 for the year, which is not bad as my expenses weren't too high in Northampton. My job consisted of implementing the process which periodically reviews the market sales. This included managing the sales forecast database, attending exhibitions and supporting the account managers. I travelled within the UK and also went to Holland. I really enjoyed it. The placement office at the University were very helpful; companies contact the Business School and post their job vacancies on the website so you can apply online. Sometimes the companies come to the Business School to do presentations. During the second year we had quite a few from people like IBM and General Motors.]]
