Choose a course which suits you and which will help you get job and which will help you grow with your career. I would recommend other students who want to pursue their career should study the market trend and then choose their career stream.
I had to write GRE and TOEFL to qualify for foriegn university. But later on came to know that this course does not require GRE or TOEFL. I used Cracking GRE by Princeton Review & gave mock tests before undertaking GRE & TOEFL exams. I did not attend any coaching classes. I took help of Dilip Oak's academy. I had to take Visa. Visa Interview was pretty good. Lasted within 10 mins. Interview questions asked were very easy. Came to SFO by Singapore airlines. It was good but the total duration of my journey was long i.e 21hrs. I did not get any students concession. I landed on SFO airport. My insitute is 50 miles from SFO airport. Baggage rules were: 2 bags of 23kgs, 1 bag of 8kgs(cabin) and 1 laptop bag. 1 kg extra was allowed for students. I did not face any immigration issues. My institute had arranged Meet and Greet service. In which seniors welcomed us at airport and escorted us to our university.
I was not able to get any scholarship.
My university has taken care of scheduling our courses in such a way that even a working professional can pursue their Masters without leaving their jobs. I am happy the way my courses are scheduled. I get sufficient time to complete all my assignments, presentations and study for the exams. Professors are excellent. They help us clear our doubts even after class hours. My lecture hall contains all latest technological assistance. My library has all kinds of books. If we do not find a particular book in our library then my university has a provision to get it from other universities.
I stay with my friends in a shared apartment. We have a complete set of sports facilities like soccer, badminton, volley ball, basket ball etc. We have to enroll ourself for oncampus job fairs once we have completed 8 months on our F1 visa status. Then depending upon the availability we are notified on our campus ID. It is easy to get oncampus jobs in my university. Its a great city with great night life. Wheather here is amazing, not too cold or hot. California has a wonderful climate. We have a community called as Swades for international students. They arrange different social gatherings, handle difficulties faced by these students etc.
My university has a placemnt cell which helps us to secure jobs. Right now because of job market, it is difficult for any international student to get a job but it is not impossible to get. Few companies come to our university campus for placement but for others we have to go to their office. We have to give our resume and initial selection is done accordingly. Then we are notified through mails about our selection. Then we have a technical tests and an interview. There are many companies attending this placement events for eg: Google, Yahoo, Synopsys. With this economical condition, getting a work permit i.e H1B is difficult. We have a alumni society in my university. We have to complete 2 quarter to get enrolled for this network. They help us with placements. We have to submit our updated resume and they help us in getting job interviews.
