This was my first semester at graduate school so life was hectic, tough but we all worked hard and gave our best shot. I think the program appears to be cramped as there is very little time to sit back analyze and move on hence ideally that respect should be worked on. Fellow students should be focused right from day one, learn programming and be ready to work hard.

I had a good GRE score, work experience, good grades hence I ended up with a funding too. More than gaining admission it's about performing well that matters. One always gets through some or the other but performing, keeping up with your peers matters the most. One should be motivated by healthy competition.

Not being a Petroleum Engineer all courses for me were completely new, but excellent teaching style, paying attention in class made my life pretty easy. We use to have around 8 hours of lecture every week. Courses are good and focus on developing fundamentals which can be built up by constant efforts that is Home works, surprise quizzes etc. Facilities are world class, but one should be focused enough to be on track.

Nearest cities are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Newyork and students and locals are very friendly. For me I love to travel hence USA is the place to be as it is full of diversity and also because my friends and colleagues are scattered all over the country. We have a small organization which takes care of lot of festivals back home, we meet up from time to time and enjoy each others company. I am staying on campus hence my rent is 700$/month.

Obviously the prospects brighten after the degree. My aim is to work in USA till I gain experience and from then on go back to NIGERIA to help my own country develop its own economy. Campus recruitments are down at the moment but as they say there is always light at end of the tunnel.
