The three words I would use to describe Aberdeen are 'Good times man!'
The History Department is held in high regard and I'm really glad to be involved in it. As an Aberdonian, I knew that Aberdeen could cater for my interests, as well as any other city, and although I considered moving I'm genuinely glad I stayed. The University and city are great places to be. Lecturers are keen to get involved and make the subject fun as well as rewarding. All the lecturers I have had have been passionate about the subject and care about their students. They've been approachable and helpful when I have had questions or queries.
As I didn't stay in Halls and stayed at home in first year I had to try a little bit harder to meet new people, but you can't avoid making new friends at university. Now that I'm in third year, I know so many people that I can't always remember everyone's name! I have seen countless memorable gigs in Aberdeen. If you're like me and into indie and rock music, then you really have to look no further, as there are regular, exciting gigs in the city. There's something for everyone, you just have to look for it. The thing I would have liked to change during my time here: I would have liked to have stuck my head out a bit and try and get involved in more of the societies, especially in first year. There's some interesting things to try and I've always wanted to at least have a shot at surfing, but there's still time.
