Overview

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is an innovation-led and graduate-focused Research University. Since its establishment as a technical school in 1904 and finally a full-fledged university in 1975, UTM has played a pivotal role over the years as the nation’s largest contributor of technical and professional workforce for the local industry, government agencies as well as multinational companies. It is located both in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, known as the UTM Kuala Lumpur Campus, and in Johor Bahru, which is its main campus, situated in a strategic location in the Iskandar Malaysia region, a vibrant economic corridor in the south of Peninsular Malaysia.

Along with its established vision to be recognised as a world-class Entrepreneurial Research University, UTM is set to be the centre of academic and technological excellence. Its mission is to be a leader in the development of human capital and innovative technologies that will contribute to the nation’s wealth creation.  UTM is now regarded as Malaysia’s premier institution in engineering, science and technology and recognised as one on the top universities in the World University Rankings in the field of engineering and technology.

A stimulating research culture exists in UTM through 11 Research Alliances (RA) in strategic disciplines that would contribute to national development and progress. There are also 28 Centres of Excellence (CoE) in addition to academic faculties to service technological education and research needs of the university. This is to encourage a more vibrant research environment at the university, strengthen research and development capacity, promote expertise and stimulate commercialisation of value-driven research products. UTM is also actively engaged in research collaboration with renowned institutions such as Harvard University, MIT, University of Oxford, Imperial College of London, University of Cambridge, Tokyo University and Meiji University on areas of mutual interests.

The Universiti Teknologi Malaysia welcomes students from around the globe. UTM is home to students from the Middle East, Indonesia, Nigeria, Sudan, Pakistan, China, Somalia, Kazakhstan and many other countries.

I'm taking and studying Master by taught course under UTM. I'm really quite enjoy and satisfied with my student life over UTM. By the way, master by taught course isn't easy and we almost devote all of our time working in intensive assignment and interesting projects. But I had learnt a lot after all. The UTM wifi now has improve towards UTM Wifi HotSpot with better services and it's available in CICT and PRZS library. The lecturers are nice, knowledgeable and willing to share their research outcomes. Also, UTM have lots of workshop & short term training courses to improve the soft skills among the students. I love the their library system & database and it do have enormous reading materials. UTM also conduct international conference periodically. And all those are the good sides of UTM. But the bad side is..... although UTM already have so much precision machine in the lab but it can be upgrade some more because sometimes students need to reserve before they could use the machine especially during peak time before final presentation. And they are still keep on upgrading and import new, latest machinery & technology as i know. After all, I'm really enjoy. The campus is beautiful, a nice place to sport, gathering with friends, barbecue, even enjoy the lake view during night. show less
