  • ECU Business student Rebecca Olsen was named the 2009 WA Business Icon.
  • ECU won three 2009 International Student Journalism Awards and picked up two high commendations, placing ECU second against a competitive field of entrants.
  • Nail Stout, brewed by ECU graduate John Stallwood at the Joondalup Campus micro-brewery won gold at the annual International Beer Challenge held in London in 2009.
  • ECU graduate Ceinwen Langley won a place in the AWG Fremantle Media Scriptwriter Training Initiative.
  • Third year Interior and Spatial Design student Brandur Einarsson won the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Design Challenge for 2009
  • Three of WAAPA’s star graduates, Eddie Perfect, Tim Minchin and Ewen Leslie, were honoured at the 2009 Helpmann Awards, recognising distinguished artistic achievement and excellence in the many disciplines of Australia’s vibrant performing arts industry.
  • ECU’s Indigenous students earned success at the National Indigenous Tertiary Education Student Games held in Canberra, taking out the Team Spirit Award. Health Science student Shaydeen Thompson won the female Most Valuable Player award.
