Introduction

Holmesglen Institute of TAFE is a leader in Australian vocational and higher education. Since its inception in 1982 it has grown from a delivery of 90 programs to 7,000 students, to its current offering of over 600 programs to more than 45,000 students, including 3,500 international students.

Holmesglen works closely with prestigious universities in Melbourne to provide attractive pathway opportunities for students into Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. In addition, Holmesglen continues to increase its own range of degrees, providing students with a distinct difference to other degrees with the applied nature of the teaching, and recognition by the relevant professional bodies.

Awards granted by Holmesglen are accredited by the Victorian Government and are recognized throughout Australia. Awards are granted at Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor Degree and Graduate Certificate levels.

Situated across three campuses in the southeastern suburbs of Melbourne, Holmesglen’s campuses are close to shops, parks, recreation facilities and within easy access of public transport and only 20-30 minutes from the city centre. Holmesglen is open seven days a week. This allows students to undertake additional studies at the weekend or to repeat subjects. All Institute facilities are available at the weekend. Holmesglen recognizes the additional difficulties international students face in adapting to a new lifestyle and culture, as well as differing approaches to study.

Holmesglen has a strong international profile with an extensive global reach built up from over twenty years experience in the Asia–Pacific, Gulf States and Middle East regions. Our international activities range from working with industry and government clients and aid agencies to build capacity of institutions, systems and human resources in the private and public sectors to collaborative partnerships with educational institutions in the delivery of award programs.

Today Holmesglen also offers a broad range of degrees that provide an innovative delivery methodology with a distinct difference over the delivery of degrees at universities. The main advantage is the applied nature of teaching. Courses are structured to include lectures, tutorials, a simulated work environment and an opportunity for practical placement within several of the degrees.

Holmesglen also offers two Charles Sturt University degrees as well as a number of guaranteed pathway programs to Deakin University and Swinburne University of Technology. Since 2001, Holmesglen has invested over $40 million across its three campuses to ensure students experience the best possible education and training facilities available.
