About Cirencester
Cirencester is known as the capital of the Cotswolds. It is a lively market town with a population of 19,000. The town was built in Roman times and was called Corinium. It was the second largest town after London. Cirencester has plenty of high street shops, markets, superstores, boutiques, traditional pubs & bars, upbeat clubs and restaurants. The Church of St. John the Baptist and the Roman amphitheatre are just some of the many sites that make the town unique. Cirencester is located near to Cheltenham, Swindon, Bath and Oxford and has excellent transport links.
College Farms
The College has farms based at two locations. Providing different farming conditions, these farms serve as a field laboratory for students and staff. The Farms are used for classes and projects in practical animal & crop husbandry, conservation & farm woodland management, farm buildings, equine enterprise diversification & rural business management.
Coates Farm
Coates Farms are predominantly arable and has been cropped with some pasture land supporting equine activity. One set of farm buildings provides polo and hunter livery stabling and associated exercise facilities.
Fosse Hill Farm, Coates, near Cirencester offers a first-class stabling facility in the heart of polo country, being close to Cirencester Park, Beaufort and Edgeworth Polo Clubs. Converted from a sheep unit in 2006 by the College, the low cost stabling is set out over eight barns.
Harnhill Farm
Harnhill farm is managed organically. It has a 150-sow outdoor pig herd managed as a joint venture alongside a 2400-ewe breeding flock. Arable cropping is done along with forage cropping to support the livestock on the farm. The farm benefits from being in the Organic Entry Level Scheme.
Located in Southern England.
