Facilities
Computing facilities
The Computer Centre is home to the 24-hour computer room, the IT help desk and most IS computing staff. The Computing facility offers students the ability to work and communicate on campus, in halls, at home or in the library café. Public computers are available in halls of residence, academic departments, libraries, the Union building and the Computer Centre.
Library
The main library at the University has more than one million volumes and subscribes to over 6,000 periodicals. Photocopiers and scanners are also available for students’ use. The library also provides support for students and staff with a disability to ensure that they have full access to library resources. In addition to the main library, there are 12 branch libraries throughout the University.
International Advice and Support
The International Advice and Support team helps all international students get the most out of their time in Bristol. The advisors offer advice on immigration issues, visa renewals, work permits, healthcare services, council tax, schooling and other family issues. They also organise trips to help students meet new people and explore the country.
Services and prayer meetings
The Chaplaincy at the University provides opportunities to students to explore issues of faith and spirituality for all members, regardless of belief or background. The University offers meeting and prayer facilities for a number of faiths, and students can discuss matters of faith or personal concern with Chaplains.
Sports facilities and activities
The University offers various facilities in sport and exercise for its students. The main facility is the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Health situated on three sites: the Indoor Centre, Swimming Pool and the Coombe Dingle Sports Complex (outdoor centre). Indoor acrylic tennis courts, double court sports hall, exercise studios, fitness suite, jogging track, martial arts clubs and fencing are some of the facilities offered to the students.
JobShop
The University's JobShop advertises part-time and vacation job opportunities for current students. The vacancies can be on-campus, working for the University, or based with local employers. This a good place for students to start looking for work, as JobShop also provides advice and support in relation to part-time job searches.
