Accommodation
Choosing where you’ll live is an important consideration when you’re off to university.
At Sheffield, University accommodation is guaranteed for all international undergraduate and postgraduate students for the duration of your course. You’ll be well looked after. We take care of security and there’s a Resident Support Team to give you advice and information if you need it. There are regular social events and activities to suit different interests.
Whether it’s self-catering, catered, or the private sector – we’ll help you find somewhere that’s just right. For families or others who prefer to live off campus, the University's Accommodation Office offers help and advice.
Our website has lots of information to help you find your new home and apply for accommodation online.
You can choose from:
The Student Villages are vibrant student communities in the leafy suburbs on the west side of the City about 1.5 miles from campus and the city centre – a 15-minute walk or a ten-minute bus ride. You can choose catered or self-catering. You have your own room, typically in a shared flat with a kitchen for making your meals. There are plenty of services, including bars, cafes, a dining room, launderettes and IT spaces. Everything you need in one place.
City and Central Campus are modern self-catering apartments with the city on your doorstep and the campus just minutes’ walk away.
How much does it cost?
We try to offer as much variety and value as possible, so you can pick what suits your budget. All your electricity, gas and water is included in your rent so you'll never have to worry about bills.
According to a survey of 26 university towns and cities (Natwest Student Living Index 2008), living costs for Sheffield students are the third lowest in the country.
How to apply
You can apply for accommodation once you have accepted your offer from the University. You can find information on applying for accommodation here.
