Research
The University of Surrey is one of the UK’s leading research institutions. It is home to globally respected research programmes, many of them organised into groundbreaking centres of research such as the Advanced Technology Institute, the Surrey Clinical Research Centre, the Centre for Management Learning and Development, the Surrey Sleep Research Centre, the Surrey Materials Institute, the Centre for Environmental Research, and the Digital World Research Centre.
The last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE 2008) confirmed Surrey as a world-class, research-intensive institution. Students are encouraged to undertake pioneering research with a focus on relevant and practical applications.
Research at Surrey can lead to qualifications such as Doctor of Engineering (EngD), Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) as well as the traditional PhD and MPhil programmes.
The University also has a dedicated Research and Enterprise Support unit, which provides a range of support services to Surrey researchers and has helped to turn many innovations into thriving enterprises.
The Surrey Research Park: The University-owned Surrey Research Park is a 70-acre centre of excellence in technology, science and engineering that provides companies with a high-quality research environment. It is widely regarded as the best of its kind in the UK.
