A PhD in architecture allows you to research an area of particular interest; you will most likely be currently practising and looking to develop your expertise or hoping to pursue an academic career. Research areas vary by institution depending on the academic staff available to supervise your work however doctoral project areas may include architectural theory, ecological design or the impact of new design or construction techniques. You may be required to take core modules alongside your research, and your aim is to produce a final thesis contributing original ideas to the discipline.
