Chemistry at postgraduate level covers a very wide field and a PhD offers the opportunity to research a specific topic in detail. Possible chemistry PhD project areas include: atmospheric chemistry, biochemistry, chemical education and forensic science. As well as extensive independent research you may be required to attend classes in research methodologies or other relevant courses; your final thesis will demonstrate original thought and make an innovative contribution to the field. You need a good undergraduate or masters degree and career prospects are broad, both in research and industry.
