Doctoral courses in creative art and design give you the opportunity to undertake an extensive research project in an area of interest. PhD project topics on offer vary by institution dependent on the academic staff available to supervise your study. They may include cartoons, composition, digital design, printmaking or sculpture. Alongside extensive research and practical work you may also be required to study core modules in criticism, history and theory. Your final thesis, probably accompanied by a portfolio, will make an original contribution to the discipline.
