Doctoral courses in design give you the opportunity to research a particular project under academic guidance. Design topics cover a wide range of subject areas and disciplines includingarchitecture, ceramics, design technology, interactive media, set design and visual communications. Your PhD research will cover your chosen topic in detail and the aim is to produce a final thesis, possibly accompanied by a portfolio, which demonstrates innovative ideas and makes an original contribution to the field. You may be required to study core modules in research methodology and design theories.
