PhD courses relating to the food industry allow you to research an area of special interest. Subjects on offer at doctoral level vary by institution. Under supervision you will undertake extensive research resulting in a thesis; your aim is to make an original contribution to the field. There are nutrition based topics such as human metabolism, or obesity. Other options include grain science, or flavour chemistry but the choice is as wide as the industry itself. You may then continue with academic research or return to industry as a specialist. |
