A PhD in journalism allows you to research in detail an area of particular interest. It is likely that you are already working in media and are interested in further academic research. Doctoral projects vary by institution depending on their research groups and the academic staff available to supervise your work. They may include ethics, freedom of expression, media law, political communication or the effects of multimedia developments. You will undertake extensive research and the aim is to produce a thesis that challenges current thinking and makes a contribution to the world of journalism.
