Doctoral social work courses – things to consider

A PhD in social work allows you to undertake extensive research in to an area of particular interest. PhD topics vary depending on the social work department but might include: ageing and dementia studies, children and young people, criminal justice or social exclusion and inclusion. Alongside your research most institutions also offer the opportunity to attend taught classes and workshops. Your thesis will make an original contribution to the field and it is likely that some part of it will be published during your degree. You will be well prepared for a career in research or education.
