Your PhD programme will focus on both theoretical and practical areas of structural engineering and you will use modern computer analysis techniques to support your research project. Topics vary by institution but may include particular types of structure, areas of transport such as rails and roads, or external factors including windloading and corrosion. The aim is to produce a thesis that makes an original contribution to the field.
