Postgraduate counselling courses are professional training programmes designed to prepare you for practice in a variety of settings. As a postgraduate counselling student you will receive comprehensive training and address issues relating to ethical and professional practice. Under guidance you will develop your clinical skills working directly with clients. Most courses also have a research element to investigate current issues affecting the profession. You will normally have a related first degree, but other applicants will be considered and there are introductory courses available.
