Undergraduate courses in structural engineering are professional training programmes. You can study as a part of a civil engineering course or there are specific structural degrees; alternatively some institutions offer a combined option with architecture. As an undergraduate you will develop a good knowledge of general engineering principles as well as studying the analysis and design of structures. You will learn through lectures and personal study before developing your skills in practical project work. Courses are technical and a maths and science background is required.
