Overview

Our roots date back to 1858, when John Ruskin opened our Cambridge School of Art and now we are a global university. Students from 177 countries choose to study with us in four continents every year. From day one, we’ll help you work towards your ambitions, graduating with industry-recognised qualifications.

At ARU, you’ll be part of a thriving academic community, led by inspiring, award-winning tutors. You’ll also benefit from our strong industry links, including opportunities for mentorships and internships. And if you’ve got a business idea, we’ve got a Start-Up Lab, mentoring programme and other enterprising initiatives to sharpen it. All reasons why we’ve been named the UK Entrepreneurial University of the Year at the Times Higher Education Awards, 2014.

As one of the largest universities in the East of England, you can certainly explore your options. Choose from campuses in two vibrant cities, at Cambridge & Chelmsford. Learn using multi-million pound facilities: from forensic laboratories to multimedia and recording studios; art galleries to three university libraries open to you 24 hours during term time. And if you think that you need some help with your English language skills - our British Council accredited Language Services Unit provides pre-sessional and in-sessional support. With a proactive Students’ Union, supporting 140 clubs and societies, you’ll feel part of university life as you work towards getting a good degree.

Why on Earth are their rankings so low?

They have been great upto now. Admissions was very helpful, the most helpful of any of the unis I applied for and if they didnt have info, they asked for it. The program is very vocationally focused. And the uni seems very active in the community, more than the rest.

Social policy great subject

The City Cambridge was a great place to live and study. The university course was well equipped and lecturers were extremely accommodating. However the university experience itself in terms or activities and socialising was poor.
