Established in 1893, Writtle College is one of the longest established specialist institutions in the UK.
The College is spread across 220 hectares with landscaped gardens, glasshouses, a farm, a stud, stables, laboratories and sports facilities. Please see the Location section for more details.
Writtle offers students an opportunity to study a range of academically-challenging and internationally-recognised programmes which are accredited by the University of Essex. From 2017, Writtle will be accrediting its own degrees, and from the 22 August 2016 Writtle is known as Writtle University College.

Writtle’s extensive portfolio of higher education degrees includes Foundation programmes and Bachelor’s degrees right through to Master’s and PhD’s.
English language Skills
Writtle runs Pre-Sessional English courses during the summer and also English classes for the College's international students during the academic year.
One of the highlights of the social calendar at Writtle University College is Freshers’ Week which includes events dedicated to welcoming new international students to Writtle, giving them the chance to meet others in the international community as well as key members of staff and academics.
Writtle holds formal balls every year, weekly themed nights, live bands and barbecues as well as charity events.
When students study at Writtle University College, they become part of a small and friendly community. There is a dedicated International team to help students from their initial enquiry to graduation and beyond. The team can help with queries on admissions, visa requirements, financial problems and accommodation issues.
