As a teacher training school, the Chicago State University opened its doors to students in the year 1867. The University today is a fully accredited public, urban institution located on the Southside of Chicago. The current student enrollment is nearly 7,200. The University operates out of five colleges: Health Sciences, Arts and Science, Business, Education, and Pharmacy. The colleges offer undergraduate and graduate degree-granting programs with extension courses, distance learning and not-for-credit programs.
