East Central University, a public university, was established in eastern Oklahoma in 1909. The university enrolls more than 4,000 students per semester.The University offers Bachelors degrees in Arts, Science, Science in Education, Social Work and General Studies and Masters degrees. ECU offers majors in the fields of science, business, criminal justice, nursing, history, fine arts, cartography and education. Apart from these, the university has introduced new degree programs this year in Native American studies, Spanish education, a new molecular biology concentration in biology and a new minor in Russian studies.
