Originally established as Brevard Engineering College in 1958 at Melbourne, Florida, the University officially changed its name to Florida Institute of Technology in 1966. The college is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The under graduate and graduate programs are offered through the Colleges of Engineering, Science, Aeronautics, Business and Psychology & liberal arts and the University College. The university offers under graduate, graduate, off campus and distance learning programs. The students have several in campus housing options open to them at the university.
