Established in 1867, Howard University is a private, research-extensive university with around 10,500 students pursuing more than 120 areas of study leading to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. The University is located in the northwestern section of Washington, DC, with its main campus on Georgia Avenue. It consists of twelve schools and colleges: the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; the Schools of Business, Communications, Divinity, Education, Law, and Social Work; the Colleges of Arts and Sciences; Dentistry; Engineering, Architecture and Computer Sciences; Medicine; and Pharmacy, Nursing and Allied Health Sciences.
