Lamar University opened its first extension center in Orange, Texas in the fall of 1969. It is a two-year college that offers a variety of degrees, certifications and institutional awards. Programs are offered in business, communication, computer science, criminal justice, elementary education, liberal arts, natural science and sociology and these academic programs lead to the associate of science degrees. All the instructional programs are offered in five divisions: liberal arts, mathematics and science, business and technology, education, and allied health. Currently around 2,000 students are enrolled at the College.
