The University was first established in 1901 as the Southwestern Normal School. Then, in 1974 the name was changed to Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. Over 20,000 students have graduated from SWOSU. The academic organization includes the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Pharmacy, College of Professional and Graduate Studies, and the College of Associate and Applied Programs - Sayre. Each of these subdivisions establishes specific objectives that contribute to the achievement of University objectives.
