Founded in 1905 as Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney, the school attained the university status and became the University of Nebraska - Kearney in 1991. It is a public, residential university offering undergraduate degree options, pre-professional programs and graduate programs in a variety of fields including education, business, fine arts and humanities and the natural sciences. The undergraduate education at UNK comes channeled through 4 different colleges: College of Business & Technology, Education, Fine Arts & Humanities, Natural & Social Sciences and Nursing.
