Application details

Students can apply online. Applicants should also include: A cover letter of no more than three pages outlining their interest in the specific topic area, alignment of research experience and interests and other evidence of how they meet the scholarship-specific criteria listed above. The cover letter would include specific area of research, aims, methodology, feasibility, timeline, and a preliminary survey of sources. A copy of their CV that includes evidence of academic excellence; skills in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods; previous research experience; and ability to contribute to a team. In addition to the application documentation, we invite PhD applicants to submit a cover letter no more than three pages outlining their interest in the specific topic area. This scholarship is open to international applicants willing to commence in Research Term A 2020 (from January).

Value details

A tax-free stipend of AUD $27,596 per annum (indexed annually) for 3 years; funding for project costs; an ACU tuition fee waiver and Overseas Student Health Care Policy for international candidates.

Global Excellence Scholarships

Required study load: full-time

The scholarship does not apply to higher degree research or honours programs, or certificates or diplomas.

You must not be receiving any other scholarship or award if the total combined value exceeds the tuition fee for the course.

You must not be attending ACU as a Study Abroad or Exchange student

You must commence studies in July 2019 or later.

You must not be in receipt of an Australian Catholic University International Student Scholarship (ISS).

Application details

No formal application is required. The University will assess your eligibility based on the information in your application to study at ACU. Commencing students who are successful scholarship recipients will be notified by ACU.

Value details

A tuition-fee waiver of up to AUD $2,500 will be awarded each semester to commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students. The maximum value of the scholarships are Undergraduate 3 year degree AUD $15,000; Undergraduate 4 year double degree AUD $20,000; Postgraduate 2 year degree AUD $10,000. For students commencing in July 2019 the semester value will be AUD $1,500 for undergraduate students and AUD $2,000 for postgraduate students.

Sisters of Mercy Scholarship

Students must attach the following documentation with the application: A written statement of approximately 500-800 words outlining: How you engage with your community to reflect the mission and values of ACU and the values of mercy and justice, as promoted by the Sisters of Mercy. The hardship or barriers you have faced in accessing higher education, and how your degree will change your future. Three written references. Evidence of relocation or residence in a rural or regional area.

Value details

The scholarship is valued at up to AUD $4,000, paid as one instalment annually for the duration of the course. AUD $1,000 per annum is available for students enrolled full-time, for a maximum of four years; AUD $500 per annum is available for students enrolled part-time, for a maximum of eight years.

Phayon - Thonghau Eiamlapa Scholarship

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Target group: applicants whose interest is in the philosophy of Theravada Buddhism, its role and current practice that impacts on Thai society

Selection criteria

Preference will be given to applicants whose research proposal is related to the work of the ACU Faculty of Theology and Philosophy as the first priority, and other ACU faculties as the second. If a suitable ACU recipient is not found, the Scholarship will then be offered to an eligible applicant from another institution.

Students can apply online. The following documents must be submitted with the application: A written statement of at least 500 words outlining: the conceptual and methodological framework of the study; how the research’s key findings contribute to addressing social problems in a manner that brings social cohesion to Thai society as a whole; how the research project/study could enhance the mutual understanding between Australia and Thailand; and how the Scholarship is to be used to support the research project/study. Resume (academics and/or visiting fellows must include examples of evidence-based merit (e.g. publications) with their resume).

  • You must not be receiving any other scholarship or award if the total combined value would exceed the tuition fee for the course.
