Ongoing requirements

Phayon - Thonghau Eiamlapa Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: all
  • Target group: applicants whose interest is in the philosophy of Theravada Buddhism, its role and current practice that impacts on Thai society

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Academic merit
  • Resume/CV

Preference will be given to applicants whose research proposal is related to the work of the ACU Faculty of Theology and Philosophy as the first priority, and other ACU faculties as the second. If a suitable ACU recipient is not found, the Scholarship will then be offered to an eligible applicant from another institution.

Ongoing requirements

The successful applicant is required to:

  • Present key research findings at an ACU forum (e.g. The Faculty Seminar Series); and
  • Acknowledge the Scholarship contribution made through the ACU Foundation

Application details

Please provide the following as part of the application: A written statement of at least 500 words outlining: the conceptual and methodological framework of the study; how the research’s key findings contribute to addressing social problems in a manner that brings social cohesion to Thai society as a whole; how the research project/study could enhance the mutual understanding between Australia and Thailand; and how the Scholarship is to be used to support the research project/study. Resumé (academics and/or visiting fellows must include examples of evidence-based merit (e.g. publications) with their resumé).

You are requested to submit a Scholarship Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted you. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October each year that you receive payment for the scholarship.

The recipient will be required to submit an annual report to the Scholarships Office by 1 October each year on their progress and the ways they have demonstrated their commitment.

Please provide the following as part of the application: A written statement of approximately 500-800 words outlining: How you engage with your local community and how does this reflect the mission and values of ACU? The selected recipient will be given an opportunity to attend an interview for a place at St Vincent’s Hospital for their graduate year.

Recipients are requested to submit an impact statement for the donor explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October of each year.

Students can apply online. Students must attach the following documentation with the application: A written statement of approximately 300 words outlining: your commitment to nursing and healthcare; your personal career aspirations; how you have been disadvantaged due to any of the following: coming from a regional or a remote area, having carer or sole parent responsibilities, financial hardship, disability or chronic medical conditions, English language difficulties, refugee status or the effects of abuse; how the scholarship could finically support your study. Creating Opportunity Fund Scholarship

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria, as of the scholarship application closing date:

Ongoing requirements

Recipients are required to submit a 100-word Impact Statement outlining how the Scholarship has assisted them. This may be used for the marketing program to promote the Creating Opportunity fund. The impact statement must be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October. Students in receipt of an ongoing scholarship are required to submit an impact statement each year.

Students in receipt of an ongoing scholarship are required to maintain a minimum grade point average of at least 4.0 (Pass) in each semester.

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Demonstrated financial need or other hardship

In addition to the eligibility and selection criteria, the selection committee may give consideration to the diversity of the applicants.

The ongoing scholarship is valued at up to AUD $16,000, to be paid in instalments of AUD $2,000 per semester for students enrolled full time or AUD $1,000 for students enrolled part time, for the duration of their course (up to a maximum of four years).

Global Excellence Scholarships

Study level

Eligibility requirements

Course: Business and Information Technology

Required study load: full-time

The scholarship does not apply to higher degree research or honours programs, or certificates or diplomas.

You must not be receiving any other scholarship or award if the total combined value exceeds the tuition fee for the course.

You must not be attending ACU as a Study Abroad or Exchange student

You must commence studies in July 2019 or later.

You must not be in receipt of an Australian Catholic University International Student Scholarship (ISS).

Ongoing requirements

You must pass at least three subjects in each semester to remain eligible.

Students must pay required tuition fees by relevant due dates.

The Scholarship is not transferable to alternative courses or campuses post initial enrolment.

Successful applicants must also agree to act as student ambassadors for ACU and support promotional activities.

The Scholarship may not be deferred to a subsequent commencement.

Application details

No formal application is required. The University will assess your eligibility based on the information in your application to study at ACU. Commencing students who are successful scholarship recipients will be notified by ACU.

Value details

A tuition-fee waiver of up to AUD $2,500 will be awarded each semester to commencing undergraduate and postgraduate students. The maximum value of the scholarships are: Undergraduate 3 year degree AUD $15,000; Undergraduate 4 year double degree AUD $20,000; Postgraduate 2 year degree AUD $10,000. For students commencing in July 2019 the semester value will be AUD $1,500 for undergraduate students and AUD $2,000 for postgraduate students.

ACU International Student Scholarship

You must have an offer for a place in an undergraduate or postgraduate program at ACU, commencing in February 2020

You must have achieved results of at least 80% (equivalent to a GPA of 5.8 on the ACU 7-point scale) in previous study completed within the last two years (undergraduate applicants) or four years (postgraduate applicants)

You must be applying for an ACU program that is an equal or higher level of study than the currently held qualifications

You must not be receiving any other ACU scholarship or award

You must not be attending ACU as a Study Abroad or Exchange student

Ongoing requirements

Students must maintain an overall minimum GPA of 4.75 on the ACU 7 point scale for the duration of their course.

The Scholarship is not transferable to alternative courses or campuses post initial enrolment.

Students must pay required tuition fees by relevant due dates.

The Scholarship remains valid for students on an approved Leave of Absence for up to 12 months.

Successful applicants must also agree to act as student ambassadors for ACU and support promotional activities.

Equity Student Accommodation Scholarship

Preference will be given to applicants who: are Indigenous, refugees, have been required to relocate to complete a placement, or are from a rural or regional area.

Value details

Brisbane: at a cost of AUD $219 per week on a 12-month agreement for a room in a 6 bedroom, share bathroom apartment. This is a saving of AUD $90 per week. Recipients are required to maintain the following:

  • A full-time study load
  • A GPA of at least 4.0 on the ACU seven point scale
  • Submission of annual letter of appreciation.

Value details
