Aniruddha Gunjal, a 100% postgraduate scholarship awardee from Coventry University

Coventry University has awarded a fully funded scholarship to a Hotcourses Virtual Agency student. He approached Hotcourses India for his abroad admissions. We were instrumental in highlighting his academic records and great energy towards learning new things, which impressed the University to consider him for the scholarship. The counsellor had worked closely with him to shortlist suitable universities, which included Coventry University. His comprehensive application sent through HC India was highly regarded and caught the scholarship committee’s eye, earning him an award of £15,050 for his studies.

Here is the complete story…

Aniruddha Gunjal is based in Pune. He completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from Savitribhai Phule  Pune University in June 2016. While pursuing his undergraduate studies, he invested a lot of his time in interning, researching and associating himself with various projects that would build his skills and prepare him for a brighter career in the near future.

In November 2014, Aniruddha’s love for motorsports intrigued him to work with the company DC Designs, the first sports car manufacturer and designer in India. He gained a first-hand experience working on India's first sports car project ‘DC Avanti’.

In August 2015 later, he started his internship with Cummins India Ltd., Pune, where he worked on European vehicular emissions standards, particularly Euro VI and the theory behind its implementation.

Concurrently, on 25th September 2015, Aniruddha began working on another project with the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), which is the defining agency for automotive industry in India since each vehicle hitting the Indian roads has to be pre-approved and certified by them.

Each time he visited ARAI,  more so because his father worked there, his passion towards mechanical and automotive fields strengthened, and inspired him more to pursue the subject as his career.

A major achievement in Aniruddha’s life was when he and his group of friends participated at the Baja Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) competition in 2016, working on the Design, Analysis and Fabrication of All Terrain Vehicle (ATV).

In addition, he participated in the national-level ATV championship held at the Gujarat Technological University that earned him recognition across India.

Also, he holds several other awards and honours under his belt – being a winner of national-level football championship and having secured 3rd rank in a skating championship at a district level. Aniruddha has always been into sports, time and again representing his school in athletics, soccer and skating.

After graduating from his college, he worked in various industries donning several hats – project intern with Cummins, Operations Head with DSM Technologies and Design Engineer with Kirloskar Oil Engines. His professional life has taught him necessary skills and equipped him with extensive knowledge about designing engine components as well as production and planning.

Aniruddha’s extended academic and professional career has fetched him the honour of studying at Coventry University, for the Fall 2018 intake.

A student with a stellar academic profile, Aniruddha is now going to pursue masters in automotive engineering, with a fully funded scholarship of £15,050 from the University.

Annirudha's interview

We met Aniruddha for a small tête-à-tête at Hotcourses Delhi office, and asked him a few questions:

HC India: Tell us about your experience of applying to Coventry University? How did it happen?

Aniruddha: I was searching for some universities and courses abroad that would match my interest. I needed someone to help me choose universities abroad when one of my friends told me about ‘Hotcourses India’. I checked their website and was highly impressed seeing so many positive reviews. Also, I found a number of courses and universities listed on their website. So I registered online, and shortly after that they put me in touch with a counsellor called Miss Ramya.

HC India: Why did you choose Coventry University?

Aniruddha: I chose Coventry University because I liked their curricula. The curricula that I have chosen to study complement the work that I have done so far. It will also help me learn more about my field of interest.

Another reason why I chose the University is because the faculty at Coventry is amazing, and the facilities and infrastructure offered are great too. I think everything is falling in place; this opportunity will surely help me advance my knowledge and build myself professionally.

HC India: How was the journey with Hotcourses India?

Aniruddha: I had a good experience. The virtual team of the agency had put me in touch with my counsellor in a short time. Everything happened online, from shortlisting universities to receiving my offer and getting to know more about the University I aspire to study at.

Miss Ramya had shortlisted some universities for me based on my academic profile. Of all the suggestions, I chose the UK as my study destination.

I’m thankful for their support and advice that helped me apply to the University, well ahead of its application deadline.

Aniruddha also met Andy Caldwell (Director of International Office, Coventry University) later that day, who felicitated him for his achievement.

At Hotcourses India, we try to simplify the counselling process through our virtual services and assistance. And it’s amazing to see how it works. As Aniruddha says, “At Hotcourses, the application process is streamlined for a student’s benefit; wherein a student doesn’t need to spend much time meeting a counsellor face-to-face. Instead students can communicate via a virtual medium that fastens the application process, reducing the average time that a student would normally spend to hear back from counsellors and institutions about his or her application status.”

Aniruddha is excited to study at Coventry. He feels that the University’s multicultural ambience will definitely help him get the required global exposure that he needs, as an international student.

We’re pleased to have helped an ambitious young man like Aniruddha, with our virtual services.

Good luck from our team, Aniruddha!
