Fleming College is one of the oldest and best-ranked applied arts and technology schools in Canada. The college is named after Sir Sandford Fleming, a Scottish engineer who built Canada’s first transcontinental railway, and invented the system we use for telling the time around the world.
Fleming College is based in Peterborough, in Ontario, Canada and has two more campuses in Lindsay and Haliburton. The stunning area has great lakes and huge natural forests for students to explore. The college is home to nearly 6,300 students, a third of which are international students from 33 countries around the world.
It is a modern, ambitious school, with a full range of skills-based training programs at many different levels. There are apprenticeships, postgraduate programs, and training courses for students with full-time jobs. Online courses are also available.
Students can choose from over 70 study options covering subject areas such as health and community services, trades and technology, business and IT, environmental and natural resources, and art and design.

All programs incorporate work-based opportunities to give students a competitive edge in the job market. The college offers a wide selection of different types of courses, aimed at students of different levels of education and training. Entry requirements are based on specific course expectations and learning outcomes and can be viewed online on Fleming College’s website.
There are also links to the college’s admissions department, who can be contacted at any time regarding the application process. Prospective students should check online for any important deadlines and entry criteria which may include supplementary material such as a portfolio of work, or evidence of language proficiency.
Students who do not meet the English language requirements can enter the ESL Bridge program. An assessment will determine which of the eight skill levels students should begin.

Fleming offers over 70 programs, organized into six academic schools across three campuses.
Students collaborate in labs, clinics and practical exercises in interdisciplinary teams. Many programs take advantage of Fleming’s state-of-the-art simulation centre, with 360-degree projections and customizable interactive touchpoints.
The Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre (KTTC) was designed with industry partners and has state-of-the art shop facilities, smart classrooms, high-tech labs, and modular and integrated learning spaces.

Fleming's multi-level English language development program ensures that students learn in small groups with classmates who are at a similar level to their own.
Within the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas program, students can qualify for admission to a college health science one-year or two-year program.
With a focus on the environment, students don’t spend much time in a lecture hall. Field trips, field schools and applied projects challenge students to put their skills into practice. Most programs offer work placement opportunities, many offer paid co-ops, and some offer international experience.
Fleming offers unique and flexible programs taught by professionals who have shaped art, craft, design, media and heritage studies in Canada. No other college offers students this breadth of creative programming.

International students highly rate the support they receive from Fleming’s International Student Services team, from application to graduation and beyond. They receive extensive arrival services and frequent information sessions on immigration, job searches, work permits and academic integrity that set Fleming apart.
Academic support includes free tutoring, workshops on math, writing and research skills, and weekly review sessions for high demand courses. Students also have access to free health care, including an on-site nurse and physician at the Sutherland and Frost campuses.
On campus job fairs twice a year bring employers to campus. These can lead to summer employment, part-time employment during the school year and full-time employment after graduation. Some on-campus jobs are open to international students.
