About Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology

The Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) is a public college and Designated Learning Institute in the province of Manitoba. It is driven by industry partnerships and delivers programs designed to get students working right after graduation. MITT students gain the education they need and the skills they require to succeed in the workplace.

MITT offers certificate, diploma, and post-graduate level training for college students in six areas: applied business, information and communication technology, design and manufacturing technologies, skilled trades, health care, and human services.

At MITT, expert instructors and dedicated support staff ensure that students have access to the resources they need to successfully bridge from classroom to career. Instructors teach students in-demand skills, provide mentorship, and serve as connection points to industry. MITT is the only college in Manitoba to integrate employability skills training into every program it offers. Work practicum placements are included in many programs, enabling students to gain real-life work experience and build connections with employers prior to graduation.

The student life team at MITT ensures a range of activities are available for students throughout the year to make friends, learn about other cultures, and network with future colleagues and employers.

MITT also offers English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program through its English Language Institute (ELI), which allows international students to achieve the English language proficiency requirements needed for college admission to MITT.

What’s new

MITT has recently enhanced its Network and Systems Administrator (NSA) programs.

As a leading provider of career-oriented education in information and communication technology, MITT offers NSA training at the advanced certificate and diploma levels.

Last year, MITT expanded its NSA advanced certificate program from ten to twelve months with an increased focus on cloud-based technology. It also launched the sixteen-month diploma program that offers a fifteen-week work practicum placement, giving students the opportunity to gain industry-relevant experience with a recognized employer.

The NSA program provides students with comprehensive skills in information technology infrastructure design and support. MITT students gain hands-on experience in advanced labs outfitted with industry-grade hardware and software from universally recognized technology leaders such as Cisco, Microsoft, Red Hat, and AWS.
