Mount Royal University (MRU) is a prestigious public university in the city of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. With future-focused programs led by knowledgeable faculty, the university guarantees the highest quality education for its students.
Since opening more than 100 years ago, the university has developed into an institution with high-tech facilities, environmentally friendly buildings and a diverse education offering. Known for providing a personalized learning experience, the faculty at MRU are highly rated and are focused on helping students succeed.
MRU has a student population of almost 15,000 students. The university offers numerous undergraduate degree programs, with a wide variety of majors available. Students can choose from programs, including history, English, psychology, nursing, computer science, environmental science, biology, information design and public relations.
The MRU campus is a vibrant mini-city built just for students and faculty. There is plenty of on-campus support for international students, including help with choosing classes, technical support, computer labs, a state-of-the-art library, health services, on-campus housing, a campus store, and many more. Students also have access to the MRU Recreation Centre which includes a fully equipped fitness centre, squash courts, 40-foot climbing wall, intramural sports and salt-water aquatic pool.
Calgary is the largest city in Alberta and there are more than 1.4 million people living in the city. It is the sunniest major city in Canada with an average of 333 sunny days per year. In the winter, Calgary is the perfect destination for snow sports and is close to world-class ski resorts. From festivals to the famous Calgary Stampede to outdoor adventure, there is plenty for students to see and do.
During their time at MRU, and after they graduate, students can receive support with their careers. The helpful Career Services offer career planning support, work experience and cooperative education programs, online resources, one-to-one appointments with career development coordinators, job search advice, application critiques and more.
During the summer, typically a busy time for students looking for career experience, hundreds of MRU students in programs such as environmental science, accounting and policy studies, are placed in internships and co-op work terms. Over 50 percent of MRU programs provide opportunities for industry placement.
Mount Royal is also known for helping students develop the skills to build their own businesses. Programs offer entrepreneurial training and campus competitions provide business development and funding opportunities through the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Whether they’re growing nutrient-rich vegetables in indoor, vertical farms or designing confidence-building clothing from sustainable fabrics, Mount Royal University graduates across all disciplines are learning to develop innovative mindsets to propel them into their future careers.
Due to the growing demand for talented employees in Calgary’s scientific, technology and social services industries, Mount Royal University is accelerating talent to support these sectors.
