​Cardiff Met Sanctuary Award

Student requirements

All applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered for the Cardiff Met Sanctuary Award: You are one of the following: You are an asylum seeker; You have been granted discretionary leave to remain or Humanitarian Protection; You are the partner/dependent included on the application of an asylum seeker in the UK; You are a refugee AND You have a conditional or unconditional offer from Cardiff Metropolitan University for entry in September 2020 onto a degree course; You are currently attending a school, college, community or voluntary group, which can provide a reference in support of your application; You live within suitable distance to easily commute to university. (A Cardiff Met bus pass forms part of the scholarship award); You do not require support for accommodation and living expenses. Applicants must meet ALL of these strict eligibility criteria and be in a position to verify their circumstances in order apply. Applicants who do not meet all the criteria will not be considered for the scholarship. You will first need to hold a conditional or unconditional offer to study at Cardiff Met.

Application details

Applicants must apply before the application deadline of 5.00pm on 3rd July 2020. Please note that this is a competitive process and there are limited scholarships available, consequently not all applications will be successful. Applicants will be notified if their application meets the eligibility criteria within 2 weeks of the application deadline.

This scholarship covers A full fee waiver for the postgraduate course the applicant holds an offer for; A Met Rider bus pass valid during the academic year (September – June).

Elite Sport Scholar Award

Student requirements

The award is based upon a combination of academic merit and sporting achievements and can be applied for by students who meet the criteria. The award of scholarships are reviewed on an annual basis and students will be required to demonstrate their continuing commitment to Cardiff Met performance sport and their personal sporting development in order to continue to benefit from the scheme for the duration of their studies. To be eligible for a scholarship, athletes must: be studying, or about to commence studying at Cardiff Metropolitan University (any course); be competing in a recognised British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) sport and contribute to the University's BUCs objectives; be competing at international level, or must be performing towards the highest level in their sport (e.g. national/international/professional); be recommended by their NGB coach and/or the University's coach in their sport.

Application details

The deadline for application is the 1st August 2020. Athletes applying for a scholarship must complete the Elite Sport Scholar Award application form and submitting it to the Head of Performance Sport with evidence of performance standards and coach contact details to allow for a recommendation to be requested. It is available to all elite student athletes who meet the criteria.

Students who are successful in their application for the award will receive a package of scholarship benefits worth approximately £5,000 that includes £1,000 discount from their programme tuition fees.
