SHS International Excellence Scholarships (IES)

The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate academic and clinical and/or professional excellence. Applicants must have an offer of a full-time place and be studying for the full MSc on one of SHS’s postgraduate programmes (those applying for the PG Cert or PG Diploma will unfortunately not be eligible). Please note students cannot be in receipt of more than one scholarship/bursary. Awards are competitive and will be awarded for academic and clinical excellence as well as for exceptional innovation in enterprise.

The Dean's Scholarships for Academic Excellence

The School of Health Sciences has 2 Dean's Scholarships of £2,500 available for academically outstanding students who are currently studying on an undergraduate Programme in the School of Health Sciences and who wish to progress onto a Master’s Programme (September or January intake). For all successful applicants, the total scholarship amount will be awarded to full-time students in the form of a fee waiver from the second fee instalment. For part-time students, half of the amount will be awarded in the form of a fee waiver in the first year, and half in the second year of study (again coming off the second fee instalment). To qualify for The Dean's Scholarship for Academic Excellence, you must: currently be in your final year of Undergraduate study in the School of Health Sciences at City, University of London; have a grade average of 70% or above in your undergraduate studies; be a self-funded student and not in receipt of any other scholarships (except the alumni discount).

Application details

Awards will be granted by a scholarship award panel after a shortlist and selection process. Applications will be considered on the basis of academic excellence (grades obtained in both year 1 and year 2 of Undergraduate study will be taken into account), a personal statement and academic references. Only applicants with an average grade of 70% or above will be considered. The decisions will be made by a selection panel and the decisions made will be final. To apply, please complete the official scholarships form, including a statement of no more than 500 words stating why you believe you should be awarded this scholarship. This statement will be in addition to the personal statement used for the programme application.Please email your completed application form and academic references to our Postgraduate Administration team at pghealth@city.ac.uk stating your full name and student number together with the full name of the course for which you have applied. Dean’s Bursary for Professional Advancement

To qualify for The Dean's Bursary for Professional Advancement, you must: be a self-funded student and not in receipt of any other scholarships (except the alumni discount); be entering your first year of postgraduate study for the October or January intake on any one of our Masters programmes; be entering your first programme of study as a international student. The Dean’s Bursary for Professional Advancement will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate commitment to professional advancement but who would find it difficult to undertake postgraduate studies without some additional financial support. For all successful applicants, the total bursary amount will be awarded to full-time students in the form of a fee waiver from the second fee installment. Doctoral Studentships - School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering

The studentships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and the potential to produce cutting edge-research. Prospective applicants must: Hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence. Exceptionally, we can consider applications from those with a good Master’s degree in a relevant subject or extensive professional experience in the area of the proposed research Be proficient in Python, have a strong experience in Deep Learning, and in-depth understanding of Mathematics for AI Have an interest in behavioural neuroscience (learning theory, computational cognitive science) Be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of oral and written English Applicants whose mother tongue is not English must meet at least one of the following: a minimum IELTS overall score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the four components a minimum TOEFL total score of 99, with a minimum of 22 in each of the four components the award of a Master’s degree from an English speaking country.

We also believe that it is important to value the potential of applicants to make a positive contribution to the School, the legal professions, and the community when we evaluate applications. Requirements: Academic merit (2:1 or 1st) or international equivalent. You must hold an offer of a place on one of the courses at The City Law School. The offer can be conditional or unconditional, and you do not need to have accepted your place in order to apply for a scholarship. NOTE: If a student has been awarded a City Law School Scholarship for Academic Excellence earlier in the year, they will be considered for an upgrade to City Law School Dean’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence in June. City Star Scholarship

Students who accept a place on any of our engineering Master’s will be awarded a scholarship according to the degree classification they attain in their undergraduate degree: First Class Honours students will receive 35% of their fees; Upper-second Class Honours students will receive 30% of their fees; Lower-second Class Honours students will receive 25% of their fees. The City Star Scholarship will take the form of fee-waiver applied against the last payable instalment in any academic year. The scholarship cannot be applied to a fourth year MEng programme. The level of scholarship is determined by the degree classification obtained by the student in their undergraduate programme of study. Students repeating a postgraduate course at City, University of London will not be eligible for a scholarship. (Students granted mitigating circumstances by the Institution will be considered on an individual basis).
