What will I learn?

Are you after a pathway to work in any hospitality industry sector and for a diversity of employers including restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops? This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in accommodation services, cookery, food and beverage and gaming.

Course Notes

Only onshore applications are being accepted for the Bachelor of Business (Tourism and Event Management) package with UniSA. Offshore applicants (excluding India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh) may wish to consider the TAFE SA Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality, and Events Management packaged with the TAFE SA Advanced Diploma or Diploma of Hospitality Management.

Students may complete a package of a Certificate III in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery or Patisserie, a Certificate IV in Hospitality, Commercial Cookery or Patisserie, and a Diploma or an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management. Durations vary depending on the package chosen.

Employment Outcomes

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT60316)

Gain the skills to become a competent manager or to open your own business. This qualification is for individuals planning to operate at a senior level who wish to use substantial industry knowledge and wide-ranging, specialized managerial skills. They operate independently, take responsibility for others and make a range of strategic business decisions. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 16 core units and 17 elective units.

Total Course Cost: AUD $8,200; Other fees: AUD $40; Students will be required to purchase additional learning materials, including uniforms and equipment at an approximate cost of AUD $500. Students choosing the Certificate III & Certificate IV Hospitality pathway will be charged the remaining 50% of their Certificate III during their 2nd semester, as well as the Certificate IV tuition fee in full. The fee for the Advanced Diploma will be deferred to the final semester of the total package

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Minimum academic entry is completion of Year 12 or equivalent. IELTS Academic 5.5 overall with a minimum of 5.0 in all bands; TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – iBT: Score of 46, with reading: 4-7, listening: 4-6, speaking: 14-15, and writing: 14-17; Pearsons Test of English (PTE) Academic: Minimum 42 with 36 in all for communicative skills ((listening, reading, writing and speaking); Occupational English Test OET: Pass; Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE), Cambridge First Certificate of English (FCE): Overall score of 162 with a minimum of 154 in all bands; Intensive English Language Institute (IELI): English for Academic Purposes 2 (C grade); GCE O Levels English/1119 English: C6.

For international students

  • Academic IELTS score of 5.5 Overall with minimum of 5.0 in all bands or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Certificates III & IV in Hospitality, or the Certificates III & IV in Commercial Cookery, or the Certificates III & IV in Patisserie.
  • Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Nepalese students need satisfactory completion of Year 12 or overseas equivalent 60% in the top 4 subjects (excluding native language) for all courses (i.e. Cert III, Cert IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Associate Degree) If student has needed to re-sit for their exam, student also need to provide all exam results. Not accepting Punjab State Board or Haryana State Board HS results only – need to present a Central Board result exam or a higher qualification.
