Human Geography

Explore the interactions between people, natural events and the environment and learn how to solve major ecological and environmental problems.

A combination of specialist skills including environmental and town planning, land management, regional sustainability and environmental impact assessment will be part of your studies.

Learn valuable work skills like identifying problems, evaluating explanations, analysing data and computing techniques. You will understand the method of laboratory analysis used in physical geography, and develop strategies for recommending solutions.

Get involved in practical project work, where you will work in teams or independently. Potential jobs will focus on disaster planning, population planning and protected area management. Career opportunities can exist in government or non-government agencies, or environmental and development organisations.

Entry requirements

For students from United States

Students are required to complete academic qualification of Australia grade 12 or equivalent. IB Diploma - 24, 26, 30, 34. English Language Requirements: Academic IELTS: 6.0 (no component lower than 6.0); TOEFL (paper based): 550 (plus minimum Test of Written English score of 4.5); TOEFL (internet-based): 79 (minimum writing score of 19); Pearson (PTE Academic): 57; Occupational English Test (OET): Completion and an overall pass with minimum grades A or B only in each of the four components.

For international students

Students are required to complete academic qualification of Australia grade 12 or equivalent. Entry requirements may vary from country to country.

Course pre-requisites: English (Units 3/4,C).
