What will I learn?

Studying a Bachelor of Arts provides you with a diverse range of skills that will open up various career options depending on your chosen study area.

You can find employment in different sectors and work nationally or internationally as an expert in your field. Keep your career options open and select the majors that most suit you.

Career opportunities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Anthropologist in museums, heritage and conservation agencies,
  • Archaeologist or researcher
  • Journalist, media and communications professional or communications officer
  • Policy advisor or negotiator
  • Community development officer
  • Historian, heritage officer, or records manager

Sociology

Gain the analytical tools to learn how society is organised and how we experience life with each other. You will study social trends and understand why and how societies and institutions have developed through history.

With a focus on the societal issues of the Tropics, you will develop social science research skills and explore a diverse range of topics. You can choose to study topics such as race, gender identity, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination and social movements.

You can work in organisations that need planners, product researchers, community project managers, policy analysers, administrators, advocates and more.

Popular second major combinations include Criminology, Anthropology, and Psychology Studies. Not all subjects in this major are available internally and you will need to take some subjects externally.
