What will I learn?

Accountancy is not just about numbers anymore, it is integral to the success of many modern businesses. The fast moving and diverse nature of business operations means accountants are involved in exciting and dynamic decisions on a daily basis and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. Modern accountants also have up to date knowledge and experience of contemporary accounting information systems.

USQ’s Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Accounting (Extended)) provides a unique extension to the Accounting major. An extra four units of study will give you an advanced understanding of financial reporting and company operations. Successfully completing these courses will provide you with insights and knowledge that will enhance your preparation for the CPA or CAANZ professional examinations.

Professional accreditation

Accounting (Extended) major graduates will meet the educational entrance requirements of CPA Australia and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). This provides Associate membership of CPA Australia, eligibility to study the CPA Australia professional exams and eligibility to study the CAANZ professional exams.

Successful completion of the Accounting (Extended) major can qualify students for exemptions from the Fundamental level (9 papers) of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exams.

Career outcomes

Graduate as a qualified accountant with the ability to pursue careers as diverse as a registered tax practitioner, public accountant, chartered accountant, commercial accountant, chief financial officer, chief executive officer, bank manager, business services manager, government advisor etc.
